𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐍𝐄𝐃 𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝟐𝟓 𝐒𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐇𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐃 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐂𝐎𝐀𝐋

𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐬 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐨 – The PNP Maritime Group, Regional Maritime Unit 12 of General Santos City turned over one (1) unit of Rusi motorcycle with top-down loaded with twenty-five (25) sacks of apprehended wood charcoal at CENRO General Santos City Office today, July 11.

The said conveyance full of minor forest products was apprehended along the Coastal Road of Barangay Buayan, General Santos City at around 3: 35 AM on the same date during their monitoring operations.

The perpetrators failed to provide necessary permits for the possession and transport of said forest products, which were discovered to have been sourced from the upland area of Barangay Tuyan, Malapatan, Sarangani Province. This is in violation of Section 77 of Presidential Decree 705 as amended, and Section 6 of DENR Administrative Order No. 2022 – 05 (Rules and regulation of wood charcoal) which particularly requires a Wood Charcoal Transport Permit (WCTP) and/or Wood Charcoal Production Permit (WCCP), as the case may be. Consequently, CENRO General Santos City shall undertake the conduct of Administrative Adjudication Proceedings pursuant to DENR Administrative Order No. 1997 – 32 as regards the turned-over items.

Section 77 of PD 705 states that “Any person who shall cut, gather, collect, removed timber or other forest products from any forest land, or timber from alienable or disposable public land, or from private land, without any authority, or possess timber or other forest products without the legal documents as required under existing forest laws and regulations, shall be punished with the penalties imposed under Articles 309 and 310 of the Revised Penal Code”.
