KORONADAL CITY, SOUTH COTABATO – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Region 12 has joined forces with various government agencies, local government units (LGUs), civil society organizations and other stakeholders and planted over 6,800 trees seedlings during the nationwide simultaneous tree planting activity spearheaded by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Tuesday, September 13.

DENR-12 Regional Executive Director Atty. Felix S. Alicer emphasized in his message the need to work together in order to restore the country’s forest cover.
Β
β€œWe really need to join forces in order to reforest our country. As early as 1977, Presidential Decree 1153 already required us to plant trees. During that year, there was already that consciousness of the need to reforest. There is no accurate balance between the forest and the land, but we are all in agreement that our forests are not sufficient. Everyone should do his part because we in the DENR alone could not reforest the country, that’s why we are all here to unite our efforts in order to restore our forest cover,” he said.
