Youth desk officers from various DENR offices found some perfect holiday giveaways – woven novelties from waterlilies like bracelets, pouches, bags, coin purses, coasters and headbands -- during their tour of the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission’s livelihood program in Baseco compound in Tondo, Manila on November 20, 2018. Around 30 women are under employ in the livelihood program, who meticulously weave dried waterlilies into cloth and turning them into such wonderful crafts for sale in Metro Manila to provide alternative income for the group. ###

Environment Secretary Roy A. Participants and delegates to the three-day East Asian Seas (EAS) Congress 2018 at the Iloilo Convention Center are treated to a wide array of photos and informative materials, including audio-visual materials, showcasing the richness of the marine and coastal ecosystems and communities in East Asia. The exhibit area was officially opened Tuesday, Nov. 27, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by (from left) United Nations Development Programme Resident Representative Ola Almgren (in cream suit), Partnership in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA) Executive Director Aimee Gonzales, Overall International Conference and congress chair Chua Thia-Eng, Department of Environment and Natural Resources Undersecretary Rodolfo Garcia, and EAS Partnership Council chair Antonio La Viña. The exhibit will run up to Nov. 30, 2018. ###

Mr. George Oliver dela Rama (center, on blue suit), head of the Public Information, Advocacy and Tourism Division of the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC), and Ms. Merliza Bonga (right of dela Rama), head of the PRRC’s Environmental Management Division, share their success for winning the 1st Asian River prize award last October 16, 2018, with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). Dela Rama cited the support extended by the environment department in the rehabilitation of the Pasig River during a tour of the historic river by the DENR’s youth desk officers led by Ms. Maria Magnolia Danganan (left of Dela Rama) . ###

Local government leaders and representatives strike a pose with DENR Undersecretary for Solid Waste Management and LGU Concerns Benny D. Antiporda (in white shirt and eyeglasses) after receiving the resolutions of the National Solid Waste Management Commission approving their respective 10-year Solid Waste Management Plans on October 30, 2018 at Icon Hotel in Quezon City.
