The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 12 has signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the local government (LGU) of Tupi in South Cotabato to lead the survey for the creation of a new barangay that will aid the town in providing wider delivery of basic services.
Under the MOA signed by DENR-12 Regional Executive Director Atty. Felix S. Alicer and Tupi Municipal Mayor Romeo S. Tamayo on Friday (Nov. 10), the DENR though its Surveys and Control Section under the Survey and Mapping Division (SMD) will conduct a survey and demarcate the boundaries of the proposed Barangay Juan-Loreto Tamayo which will be financed by the LGU.
The department will also put up monuments or landmarks in the boundaries of the proposed barangay and will provide the LGU the approved and final copies of cadastral survey with its technical description.
RED Alicer said that the DENR is mandated to provide technical assistance to the LGUs like the Municipality of Tupi which is seeking to bring its basic services closer to the people.
