Various participants from the DENR-12 regional office were oriented on the significance of mental awareness on Wednesday, September 20 in Koronadal City.
DENR-12 Assistant Regional Director for Management Services Maria Elvira V. Lumayag emphasized the need to raise the level of awareness on mental health issues and to maintain a gender-sensitive workplace that will contribute to the well-being of the public servants.
"Mental health is a serious problem, there is no exception and everyone is vulnerable. We need to be physically, emotionally and mentally prepared in order for us to have a better relationship within our workplace," she said.
During the lecture, resource person Renz Anthony R. Sumapal, RPsy discussed the Mental Health Statistics; Differences between mental health and mental disorder and their causes; Ways to Address Mental Illness; Misconception and Treatment; and Stress and Work-related Stress. He also underscored that mental well-being is just as important as physical well-being which are need to be both maintained in order to stay fit and healthy.
The participants were also oriented on Gender Identity by Marialyn S. Sarte and Republic Act No. 7787 (Anti-sexual Harassment Act), RA 9262 (Violence Against Women and their Children) and Sexual Orientation by Evelyn Kimberly D. Felicio, RN. ### | RSCIGV
