𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐧

General Santos City- The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Regional Ofice XII- Community Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) General Santos City together with PENRO- South Cotabato spearheaded the awarding of four Special Patents to the Municipality of Tampakan, South Cotabato on August 29, 2023.

The special patents were awarded, particularly to LGU Tampakan which covers their Municipal Hall, Public Plaza, and two (2) market sites. Hon. Alexie Cariaga expressed his gratitude to DENR for facilitating the titling of said government lots and signified his utmost support in the anticipated titling of private lands within the municipality. He also encouraged the school sites to process the necessary documents for titling.

In his message, PENRO Sinarimbo stated that such action was made possible through a unified DENR-CENRO-GenSan initiative and that he appreciates the collaborative efforts undertaken in the processing of the special patents which led to the smooth and successful issuance thereof in his term.

Further, the information, education, and communication (IEC) campaign regarding the processing and issuance of special patents for government lands was also underscored by CENR Officer Elmer S. Mercado emphasizing that all government lots should be titled as it takes part as a basic requirement in requesting funds for development projects.

The activity was graced by Tampakan Vice Mayor Hon. Alexie Cariaga, with the CENRO Gensan Land Administration and Management Unit (LAMU) headed by Chief LMO III Mary Grace Ybañez.

DENR Administrative Order 2016-21 provides for the guidelines in the processing of requests for proclamations and issuance of Special Patents over Agricultural Lands in consonance with the provisions of Republic Act No. 10023 otherwise known as the “Free Patent Act”.
