𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐑-𝟏𝟐 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐚 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢 𝐁𝐚𝐲

Another sea turtle, locally known as “pawikan,” was released on Thursday morning (July 6) at Isla Ligaya Beach Resort in Barangay Datu Dani, Kiamba, Sarangani Province by environment authorities after it was saved by the resort owner.

The 35 kilogram female Green sea turtle with 69 centimeters length and 64 centimeters width was seen by Gloria Tan in her beach resort and immediately notified the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Kiamba to ensure its safety.

A metal tag with serial number PH 2574A was placed on the pawikan’s left flippers before it was freed by CENRO Kiamba Quick Response Team (QRT) and some personnel of Kiamba LGU and MENRO.

The CENRO Kiamba QRT also conducted a communication, education, and public awareness (CEPA) campaign on proper response and handling of marine turtles with the family of the resort owner. (With report and photos from CENRO Kiamba) | 𝐑𝐒𝐂𝐈𝐆𝐌
