More than 100 stakeholders planted 200 bamboo propagules and mangosteen seedlings in a tree-growing activity initiated by the Office of Congressman Peter B. Miguel in collaboration with the DENR XII to celebrate Earth Day today, April 22 at Brgy. Reyes, Banga, South Cotabato.
Congressman Miguel emphasized in his message that each of us must contribute to the care of everything around us, particularly the planet. “We are all stewards of creation. Therefore, we should do our part in taking care of our mother earth”, he said.
Meanwhile, CENR Officer of Banga Larry P. Curias expressed his gratitude to the Office of the Congressman, the Philippine National Police (PNP), the DENR Regional and Field office (Banga) the officials and residents of Barangay Reyes and all the partners who participated in the conducted tree growing activity.
Earth Day is an annual event that aims to show support for environmental preservation. Since its inception on April 22, 1970, it has grown to include a wide range of activities across the globe, bringing together one billion people from 193 nations. "Invest in Our Planet" is the official theme for this year’s celebration.| RSCIGP
