𝐓𝐀𝐂𝐔𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐆 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘, 𝐒𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐧 𝐊𝐮𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭 – The DENR Community Environmental Natural and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Tacurong City sighted various species of waterbirds in Baras Bird Sanctuary in this city and Lake Buluan Natural Biotoic Area in Lutayan, this province during the conduct of the annual Asian Waterbird Census on January 17 to 18, 2023.
 
CENR Officer Dr. Badjury H. Mustapha said that the purpose of the annual census is to monitor the population and distribution of waterbirds as well as the condition of wetlands.
 
Conservation and Development Section (CDS) Chief Forester Mama L. Mulimpay together with PAWN Chief Forester Esmail T. Gani, EMS Emanon Luigi Mantawil and Forester Ranger Alkhasari Mustapha identified species of birds such as the great egret (Ardea alba) and the Black-crowned night heron (Nycticorax nycticorax) in Baras Bird Sanctuary. Variety of bird species like Great Egret (Ardea alba), Chinese Egret (Egretta eulophotes), Cattle Egret (Bubulcus ibis), Brahminy kite (Haliastur indus) were also seen by the team in Lake Buluan Natural Biotic Area.
 
The team was also joined by the representatives from Municipal ENRO of Lutayan and Bantay Lake groups during the conduct of the said activity. (With report and photos from DENR-CENRO Tacurong City) | RSCIGV
