𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐁𝐄𝐋, 𝐒𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 – The DENR Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) of Sarangani joined this morning (January 17) the coastal cleanup activity in this town to keep the coastal waters clean and pollution-free.
The activity, which was spearheaded by the local government unit (LGU) of Alabel, was in line with the observance of Zero Waste Month which carries the theme “Stepping Up Solid Waste Management through Efficient Expanded Producer's Responsibility.”
Sacks of non-biodegradable wastes were collected by participants from the LGU-Alabel, Provincial Government of Sarangani, DENR-PENRO Sarangani, partner national government agencies, PNP, BFP, Philippine Coast Guard, concerned barangays, bantay dagat, teachers and students of Alabel Elementary School, groups, residents and other stakeholders in the coastal waters of Barangays Kawas, Ladol, and Maribulan
Proclamation No. 760 signed by late President Benigno Aquino III on May 5, 2014 declared every month of January as “Zero Waste Month.” It encouraged all heads of departments, agencies, and instrumentalities of the national government, including Government-Owned or -Controlled Corporations, Local Government Units, and other sectors to extend their support and participate in the programs and activities on “zero waste.” (With report and photos from DENR-PENRO Sarangani) | RSCIGM
