Fifty-six (56) members of the Safety, Health and Environment Committee and Family Welfare Committee of Mommy Gina Tuna Resources Inc. (MGTRI) from Barangay Tambler, General Santos City have started planting 180 seedlings of bamboo and other tree species in their adopted Enhanced National Greening Program (ENGP) site at Barangay Lumasal, Maasim, Sarangani Province a day before the celebration of World Environmental Health Day with the theme “Strengthening Environmental Health Systems for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.”
As part of their corporate social responsibility, MGTRI members forged ahead and dedicated half of their Sunday in inspiring people to contribute towards the protection of the environment through tree planting and adoption of the 50-hectare parcel of timberland in Barangay Lumasal in partnership with DENR-PENRO Sarangani and indigenous peoples engaged in ENGP.
A memorandum of agreement will be signed to seal the partnership between the MGTRI, DENR, ENGP beneficiaries, and barangay local government unit of Lumasal which take effect for three years wherein each party will supplement the needed resources to ensure the establishment of a forest that will greatly benefit the community. | With report and photos from SRCabildo, DENR-PENRO Sarangani IO Designate
