The DENR Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Kiamba recently seized several abandoned and undocumented naturally-grown tree species at Barangay Maligang, Kiamba in Sarangani Province as a result of the regular Lawin foot patrol in the area.
Forester Ammar H. Sangcopan, CENRO Kiamba monitoring and enforcement section chief, said the incident was the eighth apprehension in the field office’s jurisdiction for this year, two of which were apprehension of conveyances.
CENR Officer Abdul D. Cariga said the incident is the result of their intensified monitoring in in their conservation areas.
“With the help of our law enforcement partners like the PNP, AFP, municipal and barangay officials and their commitments to curb the environmental crimes in Western Sarangani, we are optimistic that our forest protection efforts will be successful,” he said. | With report and photo from ADTenio, CENRO Kiamba IO Designate
