The monitoring team of the Sarangani Bay Protected Seascape (SBPS) led by DENR Sarangani PENR Officer Maria Elvira V. Lumayag and SBPS Protected Area Superintendent Joy C. Ologuin has conducted a sea patrol on August 2 (Tuesday) along the shores of Barangay Ladol, in Alabel Sarangani Province using the SBPS enforcement monitoring boat as part of the regular monitoring of the bay.
PENRO Lumayag said that the DENR-12 employed additional resources to better carry out the enforcement and inspection activities to ensure all compliant activities within the SBPS.
Molded in solid fiberglass hull with a PVC core sandwich laminate upper structure, the SBPS enforcement boat is 7.6 m meters long and equipped with 100hp 4 stroke outboard motor engine which can accommodate up to 14 passengers and is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 25 knots. The boat is also equipped with mechanical hydraulic steering system and capable for shallow water operations.
“Improved monitoring activities as a result of this investment lead to a better enforcement and protection of our marine resources,” PENRO Lumayag added. | With report and photos from SRCabildo, PENRO Sarangani IO Designate
