MAASIM, Sarangani Province – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 12 has officially inaugurated the Anti-Environmental Crime Taskforce Checkpoint today at Barangay Tinoto, here.
DENR-12 Regional Executive Director Atty. Felix S. Alicer said the checkpoint will promote visibility to curb the environmental crimes in Western Sarangani Province.
"We would like to call out the active participation of the public and the law enforcers to help the DENR in preventing environmental crimes in their respective jurisdictions,” he said.
The establishment of the said checkpoint was in compliance with the instruction of then DENR Assistant Secretary for Field Operations-Mindanao Joan A. Laguna, pursuant to the Executive Order No. 23, Series of 2011 signed by the late President Benigno Aquino III and the Sulong Kalikasan program of Sarangani Governor Steve C. Solon through Executive Order No. 03, Series of 2016, which created the Provincial Anti-environmental Crime Taskforce.
RED Alicer, DENR Sarangani Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer (PENRO) Maria Elvira V. Lumayag and DENR Kiamba Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer (CENRO) Abdul D. Cariga expressed their gratitude to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Gensan Shipyard Machine Wroks, Inc., Sarangani Energy Corporation (SEC), and the local government unit of Maasim for the support in making the establishment of the structure possible.
