A total of 160 Olive Ridley Sea Turtle hatchlings were released by the DENR Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Kiamba in Sarangani Province at the Maasim Pawikan Hatchery and Learning Center during the World Oceans Day celebration yesterday, June 8.
CENR Officer Abdul D. Cariga said the event, which was spearheaded by the local government unit of Maasim, was participated by partners from Maasim Municipal Police Station, PNP Maritime, Barangay LGU of Lumasal, Seguil Hydro Power Corporation (SHPC), Conrado L. Alcantara Foundation, Inc. (CLAFI), 38th Infantry Battalion, 6ID, PA and USAID-Safe Water.
Forester Fredam P. Unabia, development management officer IV of CENRO Kiamba, thanked the participants for taking part in the two environmental events they have conducted yesterday, the nationwide simultaneous tree planting and the releasing of sea turtle hatchlings.
