KORONADAL CITY, SOUTH COTABATO – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Region 12 together with several people’s organizations, partner agencies and other stakeholders on Wednesday, June 8, has planted more that 40 thousand tree seedlings during the nationwide simultaneous tree growing activity spearheaded by the DENR.
Various species of seedlings like bamboos, fruit, and indigenous trees were planted in 155.3 hectares planting sites across the Soccsksargen Region by over 1,000 participants.
DENR-12 Regional Executive Director (RED) Atty. Felix S. Alicer said the activity was in line with the celebration of this year’s Philippine Environment Month which carries the theme “Aksyon Para Sa Natatanging Mundo.”
“This tree growing activity is one of the examples of collaborative actions that we need in order to save and protect the only planet that we have, our Mother Earth,” RED Alicer said.
