In line with the Philippine Environment Month celebration 2022, the DENR-Provincial Environment and Natural Resources (PENRO) South Cotabato held a People’s Day event on June 7, at the Municipality of Lake Sebu – Municipal Gymnasium.

Said initiative aimed to bring the department’s services closer to the public.

In his message, PENR Officer Radzak B. Sinarimbo underlined the importance of sustaining the environment for the present and future generations, echoing the theme of this year's Environment Month, "Aksyon Para sa Natatanging Mundo."

He also emphasized the need of making government services accessible to the people.

Further, lectures on environmental laws and policies and information on chainsaw registration, furniture supply contracts, and other permit and clearance requests were given at the venue. Along with these, were feeding programs and gift-giving to participants.

Meanwhile, Hon. Bernard Ca-at, Punong Barangay of Poblacion, thanked the DENR for their efforts to deliver a shared commitment to conserve and sustainably manage the natural resources in Allah Valley Protected Landscape (AVPL).

More than 130 people attended the event, including PENRO South Cotabato personnel, MLGU and BLGU officials, furniture business owners, and chainsaw operators, among others. (with report and photos from Kier Pitogo of AVPL)
