The Department of Environment and Natural Resources Office - Region XII (DENR-XII) along with its field offices concluded the month of March with the celebration of 2022 National Women’s Month.

This year's celebration carries the theme: “We Make Change Work for Women.” This was highlighted as DENR-XII spearheaded the activities such as the Welcome Program, Zumba, Radyo Kalikasan about Violence against Women and Their Children (VAWC), Mental Health Workshop and other Women’s Month related activities.

Some of the Provincial and the Community Environment and Natural Resources Offices (PENROs and CENROs) also conducted activities in observance of the month-long celebration.

In CENRO Glan, the Serbisyo Para kay Juana was supported through the launching of another alternative livelihood for enhanced National Greening Program (eNGP) beneficiaries of Barangays JP Laurel and Kawayan, municipality of Malungon, namely “Dishwashing Liquid and Fabric Conditioner Making” along with the Bayóng making program.

Various activities were also conducted throughout the month such as organizing a campaign concerning RA 9262, otherwise known as the Anti-Violence against Women and Their Children Law (VAWC), and blood pressure monitoring for the employees. Personnel and staff were also pampered with personal care and service by obtaining a free haircut and pedicure/manicure.

In CENRO Kalamansig, the office through their GAD Focal Person also facilitated activities such as blood pressure monitoring to ensure a healthy well-being in order to implement respective duties and responsibilities in the Department. With the collaboration from the barangay health staff/ personnel of Barangay Poblacion, Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat vaccinated sixteen personnel: Six female and ten (10) male personnel.

In CENRO Kiamba, The Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Kiamba held the culmination of the Women’s Month Celebration with a Zumba Dance at Lourdes Park, Kiamba led by the Zumba Dance Group of Kiamba.

CENRO Kiamba also organized free beauty and grooming services like haircuts, manicures and pedicures to its personnel. A seminar on Safe Spaces Act and Violence against Women and their Children (VAWC) was also conducted by the elements of PNP Kiamba. An outreach program in coordination with LGU-Maitum to help the victims of flash floods in Barangay Upo was also conducted.

The Community Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) of Kiamba in partnership with PENRO Alabel also distributed food packs and donated clothes to the 75 households affected by the flash flood in Sitio Sugpang, Barangay Upo.

In PENRO Sultan Kudarat, numerous activities were also conducted during their Culmination Program. Among these were Zumba, wherein all employees had participated: Tiktok, the employees danced per division; Parlor games, the employees were grouped into two and played Pinoy Henyo, message relay, and leisure activities, in which everyone can have fun in the set-up video machine or exercise in the office gym.

In addition to the celebration, the Office invited a medical doctor to conduct health related consultation. This is the follow-up activity to the conducted blood and urine testing to the employees of the office on March 21-31. The activity aims to monitor the overall health and wellness of the employees.

In CENRO Tacurong, The culmination was held at Bansada Agri-Eco Tourism purposely not only to give time to CENRO Tacurong Ladies to unwind and relax but also to showcase one of the tourist spots in the AOR of CENRO Tacurong.

Culminating the 6-year theme “WE Make CHANGE Work for Women,” the 2022 National Women’s Month Celebration focused on the sub-theme: Agenda ng Kababaihan, Tungo sa Kaunlaran, a celebration of women exercising their choices, taking chances to make their voices heard, and benefitting from and trailblazing changes. It is a celebration of Filipino women’s power to take the narrative, raise priority issues that matter to them, and call for concrete actions. |
