The DENR Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Kiamba in Sarangani Province has capacitated on Monday the several deputized environment and natural resources officers (DENROs) and wildlife enforcement officers (WEOs) during an orientation workshop at Kanto Cleminda, Poblacion, Kiamba town.
CENR Officer Abdul D. Cariga said that they aim to orient these deputized officers from the municipalities of Maitum and Kiamba on their roles, duties, and responsibilities as partners of the DENR in enforcing various ENR and wildlife laws.
He also encouraged the said individuals to help them in curving various environmental crimes in their respective jurisdictions.
During the activity, MES Chief Forester Ammar H. Sangcopan and Forester Japar P. Macapaar discussed series of ENR and wildlife lectures such as the PD 705 as amended, DAO 97-32, RA 9147 and Wildlife Identification.
CENRO Kiamba’s Park Maintenance Foreman Edgar Q. Calderon and Information Officer Aileen D. Tenio also presented the basic concepts of wildlife handling and restraining methods and the salient features of Mining Act in the Philippines.
The field office, which recognizes the role of women in environmental protection, has also deputized Corazon M. Uyag and Clarita S. Sapal as WEOs which were endorsed by barangays Pinol and Maguiling, respectively.
