IEC ON WILDLIFE

CENR Officer Calil A. Bantuas said that they intend to draw attention to the conservation status of some of the most critically endangered species of wild fauna and flora, and to drive discussions towards imagining and implementing solutions to conserve them.

 

Municipal Mayor Vicente Sorupia, Jr. stressed that the local government unit (LGU) will be helping the DENR in conserving and protecting the wildlife and their natural resources of Aleosan.

 

During the information drive, topics on Philippine Biodiversity, salient features of Wildlife Act (RA 9147), and the biology and features of Philippine Tarsier (Tarsius syrichta) were discussed.

 

Alamada MENRO Alberto Camacho highlighted that it is essential for the community to know the basic laws protecting Philippine Wildlife.

 

“It is timely that the CENRO Midsayap conducted this IEC in order that the community will be aware of the Philippine Laws protecting wildlife, especially the Tarsiers, which are present in our area,” said MENRO Camacho.

 

Cristopher Trance, the tourism officer designate of Aleosan, said that they really want to make Tarsier and their habitat protected and at the same time, to be a premier tourist attraction like Bohol.

 

“We are very happy because the DENR is here. They can guide us on how to make these things possible, of course adhering to the principles of conservation and sustainable management of these God-given gifts,” Stance added.

 

Ecosystems Management Specialist I Adiel R. Pamikirin expressed his gratitude on the warm and enthusiastic participation of LGU Aleosan.

 

He said that in behalf of CENR Calil A. Bantuas, the office will do its best in doing its job to protect and conserve the natural resources of the municipality.
