In line with the observation of Environmental Awareness Month throughout the Philippines, Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Matalam conducted an Information, Education and Communication Campaign (IEC), through a Clean-up Drive Activity at Nuangan River and a Multi-Stakeholders Environment Forum in Cotabato Province.
 
Said activity focused on the Ten (10) Priority Programs of the Department, PD 705 (Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines) and RA 9175 (Chainsaw Act of 2002) and were participated by 30 local communities of the respective Municipalities of Magpet and Matalam last November 17 and 18, 2021.
 
Meanwhile, the clean-up drive activity at Nuangan River, Kidapawan City, Cotabato highlighted the Climate Change Consciousness Week 2021 with the theme: “Klima ng Kinabukasan, Ating Pangalagaan”, participated by 30 individuals coming from the DENR personnel, City ENRO personnel, Gagmayng Kristohanonng Katilingban (GKK), Inter-Cultural Organizations’ Network for Solidarity and Peace (ICON-SP), Kutabato Local Initiative and Multisectoral Actions (KLIMA), Our Lady of Mediatrix of All Grace (OLMAG), Red Cross, NDKC and local communities of Brgy. Nuangan.
 
Also, another event was conducted; the Multi-Stakeholders Environment Forum at OLMAG, Parish Gym, Kidapawan City, Cotabato was spearheaded by Conservation Development Section (CDS) Chief Forester Lito S. Balbon.
 
The forum focused on Climate Change: Its Environmental Impacts and the State of Health of Our Rivers in Kidapawan City focus on Nuangan River.
 
Present in the said forum are the various individuals from Inter-Cultural Organizations’ Network for Solidarity and Peace (ICON-SP), Kutabato Local Initiative and Multisectoral Actions (KLIMA), Our Lady of Mediatrix of All Grace (OLMAG), City ENRO and Philippine Rural Reconstruction Movement (PRRM).
