KIAMBA, SARANGANI PROVINCE – A carcass of a female sea cow (Dugong dugon) was found dead by local residents along the shores of Barangay Poblacion here Tuesday evening, November 16.
 
Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer (CENRO) of Kiamba Abdul D. Cariga said that he immediately ordered his personnel to verify the reported death of marine mammal.
 
Conservation and Development Section Chief Stephany Kaye M. Hassan and costal focal person Zenix R. Lomboy said that upon their inspection, they noticed the bruises and abrasion in some parts of the 2.7 meters dead sea cow’s body.
 
Joy C. Ologuin, protected area superintendent of the Sarangani Bay Protected Seascape ordered the immediate burying of the carcass which was facilitated by the Kiamba MENR Office headed by Mr. Carmelo M. Velasco.
