A Philippine pangolin (Manis culionensis), one of the three survivors rescued in Tagaytay City, is finally back to its home in Palawan after illegal wildlife traders responsible for its transport from Palawan to Tagaytay were meted with a jail term of up to three months imprisonment and a fine of Php20,000.00 each. The Philippine pangolin is a scaly mammal classified as critically endangered because of its high level of poaching and smuggling to meet the demands of its scales and meat in the lucrative Asian market.
