(USAID) Protect Wildlife Project headed by the Chief of Party Dr. Ernesto S. Guiang

A team from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Protect Wildlife Project headed by the Chief of Party Dr. Ernesto S. Guiang (holding the microphone) orients the participants from the Local Government Units in the Province of South Cotabato and some DENR personnel who are responsible in managing Mt. Matutum Protected Landscape (MMPL) and Allah Valley Protected Landscape (AVPL) on Integrated Landscape Approach in managing Protected Areas and Forestlands in Region XII.

Dr. Guiang emphasizes that Landscape Approach is simply managing ecosystems and regulating land and resource uses that would further redound to reduce poverty in the uplands and coastal communities. 

Dr. Guiang is looking forward in working with DENR XII Regional Office in leading the landscape and ecosystem-based analysis on biophysical thematic maps, Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) policies and in consultation with the sectoral, regional and local stakeholders to attain common vision and goals for each landscape. DENR - CENRO Gensan Tap Lumberyard Dealers and WPP Holders in the implementation of the Roadmap on Environmental Crime Reduction

(May 8, 2018, City of Koronadal) The Department of Environment and Natural Resources through the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office CENRO - General Santos City conducted a Consultative Meeting and Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Campaign on Law Enforcement with the Lumber Dealers and WPP Holders operating within its area of jurisdiction on May 2, 2018 at Buayan, General Santos City.

The formulation of an organization of CENRO - General Santos City with Lumber Dealers and WPP Holders Association was one of the highlights of the said activity, an initiative in line with the implementation of the Roadmap on Environmental Crime Reduction in Region XII.

Attendees were lectured on the provisions of Executive Order or EO 23 known as “Declaring A Moratorium on the Cutting and harvesting of Timber in the Natural and Residual Forests and Creating the Anti - Illegal Logging Task Force“; DAO 97-32 or the “1997 Rules for the Administrative Adjudication of Illegal Forest Products and the Machinery, Equipment, Tools and Conveyances Used in Connection Therewith”; and Tree Registration (DENR Memorandum Circular No. 99-20).

On the latter part, an open forum was the finale to address all their concerns and clarifications on the aforementioned matter.(KBBenpolok/SAADucut/CENROGSC/DENR/RPAO)
