AYO ANG KALIKASAN, MINDANAO LAUNCHING--

DENR Secretary Roy A. Cimatu together with his party graced the Mindanao Launching of Tayo Ang Kalikasan, the DENR-led People’s Environment Stewardship Movement on June 29 at SM City Activity Area in General Santos City.

With the theme, “Tayo Ang Kalikasan goes to Sarangani Bay”, Sec. Cimatu in his message emphasized that “the DENR need the help of everyone to save and protect the Sarangani Bay and the many wonders that the island of Mindanao has to offer”.

He encouraged the need for active participation as we take care of the environment. And, that while Mindanao’s riches have yet to be utilized to their full potential, everyone has to be vigilant of the threats including illegal logging, threats of leaks of toxic substances from mines, wildlife poaching, overfishing, and the improper sewage and solid waste disposal.

Sec. Cimatu also called for us to work in order to empower our fellow Filipinos to take to heart the need to manage our natural resources and use them properly. (MMAdam, MMaulana & JSetenta)
